The BeFORE Project
The Reach are dedicated to the earliest of interventions. Our experience tells us that increasing numbers of young children starting Nursery having not achieved their developmental markers. By the time problems are identified in primary school, behavioural and relational patterns were well established. We also adumbrated the amount of school resources the troubled child used, sometimes at the expense of other only slightly less vulnerable children. Without intervention, these struggles remained a continuing challenge throughout their educational journey, in spite of concerted efforts from staff to reverse these unsure starts. When working successfully with these families, mothers often lamented that if they had received help sooner the problems which brought their child to the attention of services in the first place could have been minimised or mitigated. To date, the Reach has encountered children and young people facing the following challenges .
-
Adverse childhood experiences
-
Attachment difficulties
-
Behavioural challenges
-
Domestic violence
-
Drug & Alcohol Misuse
-
Educational challenges
-
Health inequalities
-
Psychiatric Diagnosis
-
School exclusions
-
Social Care involvement
-
Suicidal Communication
-
Trauma
-
Youth offending
The BeFORE Project is dedicated to the earliest of interventions and endeavours to go before these challenges in an effort to prevent them. BeFORE aims to be a ‘womb to work’ service necessarily adapted to fit community need. We are looking for funding support and premises from which to deliver psychotherapy to those in greatest need across Leicester and Nottingham.
